How to Go Green and Make Green - Remodeling Magazine

Placetailor was featured in Remodeling Magazine to discuss sustainability. The piece was appropriately titled, How to Go Green and Make Green.

A high performance house operates as an integrated system, with benefits that go beyond even the enticing prospect of energy independence. In meetings with prospective clients, Keefe says, “I push comfort as the most important piece. These houses are more comfortable; they’re way quieter, and the air quality is way better. We have a ventilation system with heat recovery, which means that we’re filtering all the air that comes in and we’re putting it where we want it—into the bedrooms and the living spaces—and we’re removing it from the kitchen and bathrooms without losing the heat.”

Hi and Welcome to the Placetailor Blog!

You're probably wondering why we are starting a blog and why now? Aren't blogs like so 2010?

Well, it turns out that blogs are still a great way to connect with our audience. Who's our audience? It's you guys!

You're different than rest. You don't follow the status quo. You understand that climate change is real, and want to do your part to preserve our planet.

Having a blog allows us to share and grow our voice. We are committed to building high performance, energy efficient contemporary buildings.

We do what we do to make the world a better place, using our buildings and business to inspire a better way of living, working and being together on this planet. Us humans have done such damage to this planet, that it is no longer good enough to be "sustainable" we must have a net positive impact, we must be working to innovate our way our of this environmental crisis.

A net positive impact leaves our society, the environment and the economy better off than how we found them. We do what we do to be a part of the solution.

Inspired Globally, Rooted Locally

The decisions we make here impact everyone everywhere. We're always aiming to have a positive impact on our client's lives, the neighborhood, country, and the world. Buildings last a long time, and there is no "command Z" to undo decisions we make, so we must consider up front, the ways in which our work fits into the local and global ecosystem of people, profit, and the planet.

Let's Change Something Together

When we look at the world around us we know there are lot's of things that need changing. We know they aren't going to change if everyone keeps doing things the same way they have always done them. So we question the norms and test new ways of building buildings, running companies, collaborating, designing, presenting, billing, developing, and on and on. This at the core of who we are and why we are the way we are. Let's change things.

The ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do. - Steve Jobs
