Moore Daycare - High Performance Design

Using high performance design best practices we renovated a basement into a garden-level space for a local child care provider. Featuring a built-in turtle tank, reclaimed barn board, storage for a six-child wagon and funky custom built kitchen and bathroom, this is a seriously unique space!

Client Story

Ellen Moore, the extraordinary child care provider in Mission Hill, asked that Placetailor design and build the unfinished basement in her townhouse. Together with Ellen, we developed a design that will make her, and the children under her care, happy for many years to come.

Ellen appreciated Placetailor's design and construction model. She was happy to deal with only one company rather than separate designers and builders.

Our design included a compact kitchen and bath, allowing for a large, open and adaptable space for her and the children to play. We refinished the concrete floor, cleaned up and exposed the ceiling joists, added storage, improved lighting (including daylighting), hopefully educated some children, and created a fun, comfortable space.

[...]it’s gorgeous. I repeat, wow!
